Kelimutu Lake is located precisely in the Kelimutu Mountain is located precisely in Pemo village, Kelimutu district, Ende regency. Here there are three lakes with 3 different colors namely red, white and blue located in the top of Kalimutu Mount. The name of Kelimutu is came from “Keli” which is mean mountain and “mutu” which is mean boiled.
This Kelimutu Lake is part of the Kelimutu National Park designated a National Park since February 26th, 1992 which is located at an altitude between 300-700 meters. This national parks has an area of 5.356,50 hectares. Although the area of this national park is smaller than the others national parks in Bali and East Nusa Tenggara, but this national park has the unique and beautiful landscape and rich with flora and fauna.
To get to Kelimutu Lake or Kelimutu Mountain you need to take the flight to Maumere or Ende. There are many regular flights to Ende from Jakarta and Bali. After arrive to Ende, you may take the transport from Ende to Moni, the town at the base of Kelimutu, the Kalimutu Mountain is around 50 kilometers to the east of Ende, East Nusa Tenggara. Kelimutu Lake is located in the height of 1.631 meters above sea levels on top of Kelimutu Volcano. The third of lakes is about 1.051.000 square meters with the a water volume of 1.292 million cubic meters. The boundary between the lakes is a narrow stone wall that easily landslides. This wall is very steep of a 70 degrees. The height of the wall ranges from 50 to 150 meters.
